German beer is brewed in Germany according to the Purity Law (German: “Reinheitsgebot”) from 1516. It contains only 4 ingredients.

While there are only a couple of internationally known German beer brands like Beck’s, Erdinger or Bitburger there are around 6000 different beers that are produced in Germany’s 1500 breweries.
